Top Ten Benefits of the Cordonator
1. Safety
Cordonator is designed to collapse when hit. It cannot roll into traffic. It is less likely to become a projectile.
2. Orientation
Cordonator will not turn in our specially designed BaseBallast or in a tire ring. DOTs are requesting omni-directional lights because the current style of light becomes less visible when turned.
3. Acceptance
Cordonator is popular. It conforms to MUTCD and meets NCHRP 350 requirements with light attached. Arizona, California, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wyoming have approved it. The rest of the states are pending. Civil engineers and road workers have praised its merits. Many people see Cordonator as an overdue, safer alternative.
4. Visibility
Cordonator outperformed drums in controlled laboratory tests. They reflect increasingly more lumens as a vehicle approaches and Cordonator's flat surfaces reflect a series of "hot spots" that cause it to appear larger and more noticeable than barrels. Cordonator stays oriented to traffic and displays more surface than drums.
5. Ergonomics
Ergonomic handling makes the work site safer and more productive. Cordonators are not cumbersome. When opened, workers can carry two Cordonators at a time or drag 5 or more folded. The handle is large and round with plenty of room for the largest gloved hand. Lights can be attached with a 'Z' bar. Storing, handling and shipping costs are dramatically reduced with Cordonator.
6. Versatility
Cordonator has uses far beyond channeling traffic. They are ideal for use in instant maintenance projects and emergency repairs. Cordonators can support all types of barricades, signs, lights and accessories. They can be ballasted with rings, sand bags, or our own special base ballast. Caution tape looks neat on Cordonators because it can be tied to the mounting holes and away from the handle or on our own special clip. The Cogent system provides a totally integrated work site that virtually eliminates wood and metal.
7. Price
Cordonator provides the ultimate "life-cycle cost advantage." They are easily put together or taken apart. They are interchangeable. If one half is damaged, the good half can find extended life on another half. Cordonator uses more material and is therefore heavier than a drum. They cost more than drums at the lower quantities but provide safety, storage, handling, and productivity advantages which are superior to other types of channelizers. Cordonator uses the same amount of sheeting as barrels. Sheeting is easy to apply on flat surfaces. Cordonators make economic sense.
8. Storage
Cordonators stack easily and securely on their side or on end: even with lights attached. Five folded Cordonators are only 22.5" wide. "Stack and nest" buttons are molded in. They protect the sheeting and facilitate stacking.
9. Shipping
Cordonators ship palletized. An entire semi can be unloaded by hi-lo in minutes. Cordonators can go palletized to the work site or warehouse.
10. Engineering
Cordonator was designed by people with automotive industry experience. They incorporated many of that trades' structural and manufacturing methods to produce the Cordonator. Cordonators are rugged and stand up to the harshest conditions of traffic and weather. The plant where Cordonators are made is ISO 90001 Certified. Quality control is fussy and consistent. |
